When the sun sets, after few moments the
time for maghrib prayer starts and this time lasts till the fading of the
twilight which means until after the twilight (Shafaq) vanishes.
The purplish redness that remains on the
sky, after the sunsets in the West, is known as ‘Shafaq-e-Ahmar which means
red-twilight. After the fading of this purplish redness, a whiteness prevails.
This is called ‘Shafaq-e-Abyad’ which also disappears. The whole sky appears
only in one shade. The time for the Maghrib prayer remains till
“Shafaq-e-Abyad’ lasts.
Offering the prayer at an early is
preferable. It is undesirable to delay the Maghrib prayer without any valid
excuse.
