The
Sunnahs are of two kinds:
·
Emphasized
(Mu’akkadah)
·
Un-emphasized
(Ghair-Mu’akkadah)
The
emphasized sunnah is an act, which the Holy prophet (Peace be upon him)
practiced without fail, or ordered it to be practiced regularly. In other
words, it is an act which was always performed and never neglected without
excuse. Giving up such acts of Sunnah without genuine reason is a sin. The un-emphasized
sunnah is an act that the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) performed frequently
but at times also gave it up without any reason. Practicing these Masnun acts
earn greater reward than the Mustahab act, but
it is no sin to miss them. These are also known as additional Sunnah.
